Dwight Howard shines in return to Orlando

Lakers C Dwight Howard made his long awaited return to Orlando last night, scoring a season high 39 points and recording 16 rebounds in the Lakers 106-97 victory.
The atmosphere in the Amway Center was hostile all night as Howard was booed from his introduction to every time he touched the ball. Fans wore shirts that said “Coward” and implied that Howard was a baby but he was not fazed at all as he had his best game as a Laker.
The Magic kept their “Hack-a-Howard” strategy going the whole night as Howard tied his own NBA record with 39 free throw attempts and made 25 of them. Howard also had 3 blocks, 2 assists, and a steal.
“ It was a hostile environment, but I think that was something that was good for me. For my progress as a player, I needed that tonight.” Howard told reporters after the game.
Last night was a great night for not only Dwight but also the Lakers as they all came together in support of their big man. Knowing how important the game was to Dwight, they knew that the night was going to be all about him and they needed to feed him the ball as much as possible. Well it worked as Dwight showed Magic fans why they miss him so much.
The Lakers face the Atlanta Hawks tonight at 7:30 ET.
