Mike McCoy is staying in the AFC West but is switching
teams. McCoy told the Denver Broncos this morning that he is leaving the
Broncos after being the offensive coordinator since 2009 and will become the
head coach for the San Diego Chargers.
McCoy
became a hot name around the league after changing the Broncos offense during
the 2011 season to fit the style of play of former Bronco, Tim Tebow. Denver
ranked second in the NFL in scoring this year with 30.1 points per game and
ranked 4th in total yards with 397 per game.
McCoy will
have a tough task ahead as the Chargers offense ranked 20th in
scoring and 31st in yards per game. He will have to work with QB
Philip Rivers who was sacked 49 times this season and committed 22 turnovers.
